Elizabeth Dawes Appointed Associate Vice-President, Academic and Faculty Affairs
Dr. Dawes holds a doctorate in Linguistics from the Université de Montréal. She is currently Special Advisor to the Registrar of Laurentian University.
She began her career as a Professor of French Studies at the University of Winnipeg, where she held the positions of Program Director, Department Director and Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Arts.
Dr. Dawes continued her career at Laurentian University, a federation of three universities in northern Ontario. She was Dean of both of the former Faculties of Social Sciences and of Humanities, which were combined into one Faculty of Arts during her tenure. Dr. Dawes also created an instructional plan to introduce interdisciplinarity into all programs, as well as various initiatives to improve instruction.
In closing, Dr. Dawes has been a member of three collective agreement negotiating teams at Laurentian University and is a current member of the Quality Assurance Committee of the Council of Ontario Universities.
