New guidelines regarding the Université de Moncton senior administration selection process

The Board of Governors has strengthened guidance on confidentiality and adopted new conflict of interest guidelines on the Université de Moncton senior administration selection process.

These new guidelines will now be followed by the members of selection advisory committees established under the Politique de sélection des cadres.

The guidelines relate to the commitment of members to confidentiality and the conflict of interest declaration; participation in selection advisory committee meetings; the minutes of these meetings; the documents related to candidates and candidate interviews; individual notetaking by members; the use of smartphones, computers and electronic devices; consultations with the university community; retaining and archiving information related to the selection process, as well as breach of confidentiality sanctions.

“The guidelines follow an evaluation covering elements that might have contributed to a breach of confidentiality in the president and vice-chancellor selection process in 2018,” stated the chairperson of the Governance Committee of the Board of Governors, Marie-France Pelletier.

“The situation was an opportunity for the Board of Governors to improve the selection process of the next president and vice-chancellor as well as senior administrators,” mentioned the Interim President and Vice-Chancellor, Jacques Paul Couturier.

Université de Moncton will undertake a second process of selecting the next president and vice-chancellor over the coming weeks.

New collective agreements
The Université de Moncton Board of Governors ratified collective agreements with three associations: the Association des employés de l’UdeM (AEUM), Association des professeures et professeurs du campus de Shippagan (APPUMCS) and Association du personnel administratif et professionnel de l’Université de Moncton (APAPUM).

The new agreement between Université de Moncton and AEUM, which started on May 1, 2018, will end on April 30, 2022. As for the agreement concluded between Université de Moncton and APPUMCS, it extends from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2022. The new agreement concluded between Université de Moncton and APAPUM, which started on May 1, 2018, ends on April 30, 2023.
