Katryne Villeneuve and Vincent Lanoue are U de M athletes of the week
Centre player Katryne Villeneuve had a very productive week scoring two game-winning goals in the Aigles Bleues two games. She won the AUS scoring title with 19 goals (top for the league) and 17 assists for 36 points in 28 games. She ended the year with 162 shots on goal, tops for the league, with one hat trick, 5 game winning goals, three on penalty kill (tops for the league) and two on the power play. She scored the game-winner in the third period on Saturday in the 2-1 win over the Mounties. She was +2 with 8 shots on goal and won 10 of 18 face-offs. On Wednesday, she scored twice in the 4-1 win over the Reds. She took 7 shots on goal, was +2 and won 9 of 19 face-offs. She is a bachelor leisure, sport and tourism administration student.
Rookie defensemen Vincent Lanoue of the Aigles Bleus scored the winning goal late in the third period on Friday evening in his team’s 2-1 win against Acadia. He was the game’s third star and had two shots on goal and was +1. On Saturday, he added his second goal plus an assist in his team’s loss to Saint Mary’s. He had one shot. He is a civil engineering student.
