The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (11-14-1=23 points, 6th position) will host the University of New Brunswick Reds (13-9-4=30 points, 4th position) this Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena in an Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey game.

Moncton is still looking to qualify for the end-of-season playoffs. The Aigles Bleues have a single point ahead of the Dalhousie University Tigers (10-14-2=22 points, 7th position). Both teams want the sixth and final playoff qualifier, with two games left to play. Moncton has lost its last game while Dalhousie won its last three.

Moncton coach Marc-André Côté says his players are aware of the importance of the game. “The motivation is not hard, we need a victory to advance to the playoffs,” he said. “We need to find a way to win. We control our future; we need to prepare it well.”

“The team is looking to come out as strong as we did in early 2019,” said defencemen Chantal Beauchamp. “We desperately need to win our next two games to be eligible for the playoffs. The team is looking to regroup and do the things needed to win. Playing with intensity, supporting one another and playing with pride is a must.”

Before the game, the Athletic department will recognize four players: Katherine Dubuc (4th year), Jennifer Arsenault (4th year), Cassandra Labrie (5th year) and Katryne Villeneuve (5th year).

Moncton will end its regular schedule on Saturday, heading to Sackville to meet the last place Mount Allison Mounties. The Tigers play the top two teams in the league, Saint Mary’s on Friday and St. Thomas on Saturday.
