Women’s Hockey: Aigles Bleues Still Looking for a Playoff Spot

The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (10-13-1=21 points, 6th place) play host to the Saint Mary’s University Huskies (15-8-1=31 points, 3rd place) this Saturday at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena in an Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey game.

Moncton, with three games left in the regular schedule, is two points behind the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers (25 points) and has a three-point lead over the Dalhousie University Tigers (20 points). The Aigles Bleues did win their last game (1-0) on Wednesday in Fredericton.

“Playing the Huskies is always a nice challenge,” said Moncton coach Marc-André Côté. “That team has four strong lines and we have to use our speed to counter them. A win is very possible because we know we can triumph over any team with our speed. Defensively, we will have to pressure their defencemen to keep the play in their zone as long as possible.”

All the players are available for the game. Audrey Berthiaume will be the goaltender. Katryne Villeneuve still dominates the individual statistics with 31 points on 16 goals and 15 assists in 25 games. She has by far the largest number of shots on goal (144) and scored three game-winning goals. Katherine Dubuc is 8th with 19 points (7-12). Audrey Berthiaume is 7th amongst the goaltenders with a save percentage of .919.
