With four games left in the regular schedule, the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (10-13-1=21 points, 6th position) are still looking to qualify for the Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey playoffs.

The Marc-André Côté coached team will travel to Fredericton on Wednesday to meet the University of New Brunswick Reds (12-8-4=28 points, 4th position), a new team which has qualified. Moncton, Dalhousie and Prince Edward Island teams are presently in a battle for the last two qualifying positions. Moncton is two points behind the Panthers and has a three-point lead over the Tigers. The Aigles Bleues have had trouble on the road this season with a three-win and nine-loss record compared to 7-5 at home.

“We need to increase our lead over the Tigers,” insisted Côté. “We are going to Fredericton with the net intention of coming back with two points. We focused on consistency and intensity for 60 minutes. We are missing too many of our chances. We need to take advantage of our scoring chances on the ice. I do not expect any changes to the line-up.”

“This will not be an easy game; we need to begin strong and I am confident my team will respond,” said forward Katherine Dubuc. “We do not have any easy games. The Reds have a very good goaltender, so we need to focus on our offensive and score goals.”

The Aigles Bleues have won both games between the two teams up to date with score of 2-1 and 5-2. Moncton did lose its last three games and Fredericton one. Moncton has scored 57 goals and allowed 67 in 24 games compared to 50-47 for Fredericton. Audrey Berthiaume will be the goaltender.
