Aigles Bleus Visit Axemen in Wolfville

The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (9-8-3=21 points, 4th position) travel again to Wolfville on Friday for the first of two consecutive encounters against the Acadia University Axemen (5-12-2=12 points, 6th position) in an Atlantic University Sport (AUS) men’s hockey game.

Coach Judes Vallée knows his team has difficulty on the road with a 2-8 record compared to 7-3 at home. The team lost 5-1 to Acadia in the lone game between the two teams this season. Acadia scored three goals in the first period. The third game will be played on Monday evening in Moncton. The Axemen added two players to their team over the holidays.

“We probably played our worst game of the season against the Axemen,” coach Vallée said. “We have to play much better collectively. We need to work hard and consistently like we did in Halifax on Wednesday evening. We also need to take advantage of our scoring chances. We held a short practice on Thursday to be ready for this game.”

Defencemen Alexandre Bernier could miss the game because of an upper body injury. Forward Maxime St-Cyr is 3rd in the AUS scoring race with 27 points (20-7) and is the top scorer -20. Marc-Anthony Therrien is also tied 3rd with 27 points (9-18) and is 2nd in passing -18.
