Katryne Villeneuve and Étienne Montpetit are Université de Moncton Athletes of the Week

Hockey players Katryne Villeneuve, of Casselman, Ontario and Étienne Montpetit, of Valleyfield, Quebec, were chosen as Physiotherapy Sportmed athletes of the week for the period from January 2 to 6, 2019 by the Université de Moncton Athletic Department.

Katryne Villeneuve scored three goals and added five assists in her team’s three games during the week, including an exhibition. She scored the equalizer on Friday evening against the Tigers in the 5-2 win. She was +3 in the game, took 6 shots on goal and won 11 of 22 face-offs. On Sunday, she had a goal and two assists in her team’s first two goals in the 4-0 win over the X-Women. She was +3, took 3 shots on goal and won 9 of 21 face-offs. She was named Subway player of the game. On Wednesday, she was the lone goal scorer in the 1-0 exhibition win over the Mounties. She is a leisure, sport and tourism management student.

On Saturday, Étienne Montpetit was a key player for the Aigles Bleus in their 3-0 win over the Dalhousie University Tigers. He made 36 saves, including 20 in the first period to keep his team in the game and gave them a chance to win. It was his second shutout of the season. He is second in Atlantic University Sport goaltenders ranking with a save percentage of .924. He was named Subway player of the game. He is a business student.
