The John and Judy Bragg Family Foundation and the Université de Moncton have created an endowment named the “Fonds de bourses Aldéa-Landry” (Aldéa Landry Scholarship and Bursary Fund).

This endowment fund is established thanks to an initial donation of $25,000 made in 2005 and a new, very generous $500,000 donation from The John and Judy Bragg Family Foundation to the Université de Moncton Evolution Fundraising Campaign. This gift, the largest ever to the Shippagan campus, is a historic gesture of philanthropy. The income generated by the Fund will provide for scholarships and bursaries worth at least $1,000 that will be known as the “Bourses Aldéa-Landry”. The donation was officially announced on November 26, 2018, at the Compagnie acadienne du bleuet sauvage limitée, a new factory and food processing facility in Bois-Gagnon. Aldéa Landry along with John and Judy Bragg, from the John and Judy Bragg Family Foundation, long-time friend Frank McKenna, Jacques Paul Couturier, Interim President and Vice-Chancellor of the Université de Moncton, Sid Ahmed Selouani, Vice-President of the Université de Moncton, Shippagan campus, Camille Thériault, Co-Chair of the Evolution Fundraising Campaign, as well as other representatives from the Université de Moncton, family, friends, and guests from the community were in attendance for the announcement.

“I want to thank The John and Judy Bragg Family Foundation for this generous initiative,” said Jacques Paul Couturier, Interim President and Vice-Chancellor of the Université de Moncton. “The creation of this Fund will provide financial assistance to our students at the Shippagan campus and recognize a great Acadian, Ms. Aldéa Landry.”

“We have a deep and very tangible commitment to the Acadian Peninsula,” said Mr. Bragg. “We are proud of our employees here. We are investing in their future and in our business right here, broadening opportunities for the whole community. We are also extremely proud of our long association with Aldéa Landry, who has been a valued member of our Advisory Board since 2003. We are very pleased to recognize our friendship and appreciation of Aldéa Landry, as well as our commitment to education and to the local community, with this gift for the students of the Shippagan campus of the Université de Moncton.”

Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on the following criteria:
• These scholarships and bursaries are available for students from the Acadian Peninsula who are enrolled full-time at the Université de Moncton, Shippagan campus, in a program offered exclusively in Shippagan.
