Official Opening of NDSC Room in Faculty of Engineering

This new “smart” room, which engineering students now use to develop teamwork techniques, boasts advanced hardware including a shared whiteboard system.
Both conducive to knowledge exchange and configured with leading-edge technologies, the NDSC Room not only provides a space for teams of students to work together on common projects but also facilitates interaction with the instructor, who can monitor project progress in real time and provide feedback to the group.
“The Université de Moncton and the student population of the Faculty of Engineering are grateful for this substantial donation,” stated Jacques Paul Couturier, Interim President and Vice-Chancellor of the Université de Moncton. “This new room is specially designed to meet our students’ learning needs and more effectively prepare them for the labour market.”
“Education was the primary mission of the Religieuses de Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Cœur for many years,” explained Sister Agnès Léger, Superior General of the Religieuses de Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Cœur. “We are consequently pleased to have been able to contribute to this innovative project to promote learning among students in the Faculty of Engineering.”
Students enrolled in courses where project-based learning plays a major role will attend classes in this room.
“Teamwork and design work are essential skills for engineers,” added Gilles Roy, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. “This solution takes us far out of the conventional lecture hall and into an innovative teaching space. Since we offer a number of courses involving project-based learning, this room helps students to develop the related skills in a space designed specifically to promote this type of learning.”
The NDSC Room has been up and running since the start of the 2018–2019 academic year.
