Men’s hockey: Aigles Bleus-Tigers game in Halifax

After losing their last two games, the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (6-5-3=15 points, 4th position) are hungry for two points on Wednesday in the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) men’s hockey game against the Dalhousie University Tigers (2-11-0=4 points, 7th position) at 7 p.m. at the Halifax Forum.

Moncton will play its fifteenth game, midway in the regular schedule. The team has scored 51 goals and allowed 48 in 14 games. The Tigers' offensive produced 27 goals as compared to 59 against in 13 games.

“The Tigers have a physical and intense team, and even if they do not have many victories, they gave us a hard game every time,” Moncton coach Judes Vallée said. “We have a few injured players, but we can’t do anything about that. We must take this game seriously. We have had difficulty against the lower classified teams. We had two very good practices this week, and we wish to inch closer to the third rank. Our objective is to be in third spot at the break. We will have to be ready because we have encountered some difficulties on the road.”

In brief, Maxime St-Cyr of the Aigles Bleus is 5th in the AUS scoring race with a league leading 14 goals and four assists, for 18 points. The top Tigers is Andrew Shewfelt (5-8=13 points). Goaltender Étienne Montpetit is second in the save percentages of the league with .919. Tigers Riley Pickard is 5th with .913. Defencemen Vincent Lanoue and Olivier Desjardins will miss the game because of injuries.
