Aigles to play four soccer games this weekend

The Université de Moncton soccer teams are still looking for a first win this season, and with two games each this weekend, they are hoping for valuable points in the Atlantic University Sport standing.

The Aigles Bleues (0- 4-0) and the Aigles Bleus (0-4-0) will be in Halifax this Saturday to meet the Dalhousie University Tigers. Sunday, the University of New Brunswick Reds will be the visitors at the Stade Moncton Stadium at 1 p.m. (women) and 3:15 p.m. (men).

“We have two important games this weekend,” said Moncton women’s coach Mehyar Zekaroui said. “Dalhousie (4-0-0=12 points) has won all its games, but we did have success against them last season. We did look at some video, and we both play the same style. The battles for ball possession on the field will make the difference. We will do all we can to give our players the best chances possible. We are aiming for four points, a win and a tie game.” The Reds have not won a game yet this season (0-4-0).

“This is an essential weekend,” Aigles Bleus bench boss, Florian Ntima Nsiemi, said. “We need to examine our automatic offensive strategies. The team needs better individual and team efforts and a better commitment for the whole game. We lacked desire against Saint Mary’s last Sunday, and we are facing two teams that are accumulating points. We need to win points in each game and break with the losses.” The Tigers are 2-0-1=7 points and the Reds 0-2-1=1 point.

The public is invited to Sunday’s games.
