Death of Dr. J.E. Louis Malenfant

The university community on all three campuses wishes to offer its sincerest condolences to the family of Dr. J.E. Louis Malenfant, who was an admired and respected leader at the university.

Associate professor, Dean of the Faculty of Education (1979-1984) and Vice-President of Human Resources and Student Affairs (1985 to December 1994), Dr. Malenfant was a man of action and greatly valued by his peers. During his university career he served on numerous councils and committees, including the Academic Senate (15 years), the Board of Governors (10 years), the Joint Planning Committee (10 years), the Finance Committee (10 years), the Executive Committee (10 years), the Investment Committee (10 years) and the Secondary Appeals Committee (10 years). Dr. Malenfant chaired many committees, including the Academic Senate’s Appeals Committee.

The Université de Moncton wishes to express its collective mourning and to honor Dr. Malenfant’s memory by flying the flags on all three campuses at half-mast on May 24, the day of the funeral.

Dr. Malenfant’s funeral is scheduled for Thursday, May 24, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in Shediac.
