The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (3-23-2=8 points, 7th position) have two home games remaining in the regular schedule this week, and they host Saint Mary’s University Huskies (17-9-2=36 points, 3rd position), on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena, in an Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey game.

The Université de Moncton’s team is winless in 2018 and is looking forward to a first win before the end of the regular season on Saturday. “This is not the season we were expecting, but we will battle until the end,” stated rookie forward Ryan Chiasson. “We want to prove to our fans the Aigles Bleus are still a team to be reckoned with until the last game. We need to set a momentum for next season. We scored five goals against them in our last game, and we can do it again Wednesday. I appreciate playing with the Aigles this season, and I have no regrets.”

Coach Judes Vallée said the men’s team did have some difficult games maintaining intensive play against the Huskies this season. “We will work hard until the end, no matter what,” Vallée said. “It is not easy to motivate yourself knowing you are out of the playoffs. But for respect for our graduating players and our fans, we will give it our all. We will play with intensity until the end.”

Moncton has the second worst offensive record of the league with 70 goals for (Dalhousie has 67), and the worst defensive with 147 goals against, in 28 games. The Huskies have scored 29 goals in four games against the men’s team this season, the goaltenders being the prey of the offensive punch of the visitors. Moncton has lost its last 11 games, and the Huskies won their last one. Rookie Vincent Deslauriers is Moncton’s top scorer with 29 points on 14 goals and 15 assists. He is ranked 11th in the AUS. The next players, with 19 points, are Jean-François Plante (12-7) and Alexis Roy (4-15), ranked 30th. Goaltender Alexi Thibaudeau is 7th with a save percentage of .877, 72 goals against and 515 saves. Brandon Thibeau is 9th with .830. He gave up 65 goals with 317 saves. Defensemen Sébastien Gauthier and Victor Beaulac could miss the game because of injuries.
