Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (7-8-2 = 16 points, 5th position) play a second road game this week as they head to Fredericton to meet the St. Thomas University Tommies (10-3-2 = 22 points, 3rd position) in an Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey game this Saturday.

The Tommies have a six-point lead over Aigles Bleues in the standings, and each team has won its last two games. The Tommies have scored 49 goals and allowed 35, while Aigles Bleues are 34 and 44. This will the third of four regular-season games between these teams, the Tommies having won both previous matches by 5-2 and 2-1 scores. St. Thomas also beat Moncton 3-1 in an exhibition game held on January 2nd.

“This is a four-point game for us,” according to Moncton coach, Denis Ross. “It is important for us to gain momentum going into the playoffs by taking points from teams higher ranked than we are. We practised the offensive and defensive systems this week, so we can play under pressure.”

“The Tommies have a good team, and we will have to play hard each period and each shift,” added Moncton player, Marie-Pier Corriveau. “We know we can play with them, we did it on January 2. We need to be determined on the ice, to play as a team, and to take control of the play.”

Gabrielle Forget will get the nod in front of the net. Jennifer Arsenault and Maëlle Rioux are injured and will miss the game.
