Hockey Aigles Bleues travel to Charlottetown this Wednesday

Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (6-8-2 = 14 points, 5th position) have a single point lead in front of 6th place University of Prince Edward Island Panthers (4-7-5 = 13 points). Both teams will meet on Wednesday evening in Charlottetown, in an Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey game.

The battle for the last three playoff spots is on with four teams, including Moncton, Dalhousie University (8-8-0 = 16 points), University of Prince Edward Island and Mount Allison University (3-10-3 = 9 points). There are eight games left in the regular-season play, and Moncton and UPEI will meet twice, including Wednesday.

“The scores are always close against the Panthers,” Moncton coach Denis Ross said. “We beat them 2-1 in overtime during the last game, and Wednesday’s game should not be different. The playoffs are approaching, and each team is looking to impress and take the lead. We need to take advantage of our scoring opportunities because they will be limited. Our defensive play and our special units must do their job out there.”

Moncton won the first two outings by identical 2-1 scores against the Panthers. Gabrielle Forget will be the goaltender for the game. Jennifer Arsenault and Maël Rioux will miss the game because of injuries.
