Aigles Bleus need a win on Wednesday in Halifax

Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (3-15-2 = 8 points, 6th position) have lost their last three games. They play at the Halifax Forum on Wednesday evening against Saint Mary’s University’s Huskies (14-5-1 = 29 points, 3rd position), in an Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey game.

The Huskies are assured a spot in the playoffs while Moncton is battling with Dalhousie Tigers (7th position, 7 points) and the UPEI Panthers (5th position, 11 points) for the last two remaining teams to qualify, with ten games left to play.

“There is no doubt that we need a victory, but it will not be an easy task,” stated Moncton coach Judes Vallée. “We need to play a different game than we did last Wednesday when the Huskies won 7-1 in Moncton. We worked a lot on our defensive zone play this week. We are spending too much time in this area of the ice, and we are losing our battles for the puck. It is important to play well in our defensive zone and to get the puck out quickly so we can spend more time in the opposing end. We need to learn that. Our special units also have to do their job. We seem to lose sight of what needs to be done. We did look at game videos and the players saw what we were telling them. Turning things around is what we must accomplish like we did in the second period on Saturday.”

Alexi Thibaudeau will play between the pipes. All players are available to play. The Huskies seem to have the Aigles number, having won all three games this season and scoring seven goals in each, winning 7-1, twice and 7-2.
