Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (2-12-2=6 points, 6th position) will play their last two first semester games this weekend and hope for a nice gift to their loyal fans in Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey action.

The men’s team host seventh place Dalhousie University Tigers (2-14-1=5 points), Friday, and first position St. Francis Xavier University X-Men, (14-1-2=30 points), Saturday. Both games will take place at 7 p.m., at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.

“These are must win games to keep our 6th position and a chance at the playoffs,” stated Moncton coach Judes Vallée. “The players are aware of this situation and the importance of both games. We will be ready to play with intensity as we did for our last two games. We must remain strong mentally and play in the system. The defensive strategy will be important because we will not score eight goals every game. We must play better at 5 against 5 and stay as long as possible in the offensive zone.”

“We have played well at home lately and we are happy to end the first semester on home ice,” stated Moncton defencemen, Samuel Roussy. “We held very intense practices this week and we are ready for both games. We are going to work hard and defensively, we need to contain their forwards and play aggressively. We are looking for two wins, we will give it our all for this last weekend.”

In brief: The Tigers have lost their last 10 games. Moncton is holding on the 6th and final playoff spot with a one-point advantage over the Tigers and they wish to terminate the semester in this position. Forward Joey Richard has missed the first semester action, but began skating this week and should play after the holidays. Moncton plays it 17th and 18th regular-season games of the 30 on schedule. Alexi Thibaudeau will be the goaltender on Friday. Defencemen Justin Guénette, Marc Gallie, Danick Emond and Jean-François Fournier, and forward Samuel LeBlanc are doubtful starters because of injuries.
