Hockey Aigles Bleus to host Varsity Reds on Saturday

The J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena will be the site of an exciting match-up between the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (2-11-2=6pts, 6th position) and the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds (12-0-2=26pts, 1st place) on Saturday at 7 p.m. for an Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey game.

The Fredericton team has not lost a game this season in regulation time and the Judes Vallée troop will do its best to change that statistic after scoring 8 goals on Wednesday evening.

“The Varsity Reds have a great and aggressive team on the ice,” said Aigles Bleus forward Carl Marois. “The puck cannot remain long in our zone and we must control the momentum for as long as possible. We will not be intimated; we have more confidence after scoring 8 times on Wednesday. Each game is important for us, we are in 6th spot and we aim for the playoffs.”

Wednesday’s Subway player of the game, forward Marc-Anthony Therrien, added the team must begin the game with the same passion it played on Wednesday. “We won many one on one battles and we have to do our job,” stated Therrien. “Our defensive zone play must be solid. We were losing 3-1 on Wednesday and we did not stop playing. Our demanding work payed off. UNB is one of the best teams in our league and in the country, so we cannot afford costly errors because they will make us pay.”

“This is a tall order for us, but the players will be ready for this game,” stated Moncton coach Judes Vallée. “We have a natural rivalry with the Reds. We did bring adjustments to our system to begin strong and progress throughout the game.”

The game can be followed on www.AUStv.ca.
