Hockey Aigles Bleues Host Huskies on Saturday

Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (5-6-2=12pts, 5th place) are hoping to get back on the winning track by hosting Saint Mary’s University Huskies (9-3-1=19pts, 2nd position), on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena, in an Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey game.

Both teams have lost their last game and a rivalry between these teams makes the games interesting. Moncton fell to 5th place following a Wednesday loss to the Mounties.

“We need to play with intensity for the whole game,” said Moncton coach Denis Ross. “The Huskies lost their last game and they will battle hard with us because they want to stay near the top of the standings. We need to take advantage of every scoring chance and control the game. We are playing well defensively, but we need to score goals to win.”

Gabrielle Forget will play between the pipes. Natacha Ireland and Sarah-Ève Mailhot are on the injured list and will miss the game.

In brief… Katryne Villeneuve is the Aigles Bleues top point getter with 10 points, on 5 goals and the same number of assists, ranked 11th in the league… Marie-Pier Corriveau is next with 8 points (3-5), 19th… Gabrielle Forget is 4th for the goaltenders with a save percentage of .922. Sabrina Lebrun is 7th with .902…. Danielle Bérubé is the top Blue and Gold defensemen with 4 points (1-3), in 12 games, ranked 9th.

The public is invited to attend the game. It can also be seen on www.AUStv.ca.
