Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus will try to get on the winning track with two weekend games in Nova Scotia, in Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey action.

The men’s hockey team (1-7-2=4 points, 7th spot) travels to Wolfville, Nova Scotia, on Friday for a 7 p.m. game against the Acadia University Axemen (7-2-1=15 points, 3rd position). On Saturday, the Judes Vallée coached team will be at the Halifax Forum to face the Saint Mary’s University Huskies (6-3-1=13 points, 4th position), at 7.p.m.

“These are two very good challenges against two top teams in the standings,” said Moncton coach Judes Vallée. “We look forward to the Friday evening game on the Olympic ice surface at Acadia. I am happy that Justin Guénette and Danick Crête, two defencemen, will be back in the lineup. We had better training sessions this week with a few more players, although a few are still on the injury list. The players are ready for the weekend. We have already played a third of the season, and we did a good assessment of our season and play, and the players realize what is at stake. We are only one point from fifth place. This is our first two-day trip, and it will give the players a chance to get to know each other better. These teams have beaten us, but we know we can turn things around this weekend.”

Defencemen Justin Guénette is happy to be back on the ice following an injury. “I am happy to be back to help my team,” said Guénette. “We will have five defencemen. The large ice surface at Acadia can be beneficial for us as we have more space in our zone. We also need to take advantage of our scoring chances, and play a full 60 minutes. Games against the Huskies are always tight, and we have a nice rivalry. All our games are important at this stage. We know our opponents, and we can come out on top.”

Robbie Graham, Danick Emond, Joey Richard and Thierry Comtois are still on the injury list. Brandon Thibeau will be in nets on Friday.
