The Atlantic University Sport cross-country Championships will be held in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, on Saturday at noon, and both Université de Moncton teams will be ready to run for top honours.

“All runners are looking forward to this race,” said U de M coach, Jean-Marc Doiron. “It is the one we have been waiting for since the beginning of the season. All the other races were training for this one. Our whole season is decided within a half hour.”

The Aigles Bleues will be represented by seven runners, including Carol-Ann MacDonald and Kamylle Frenette. “We have a good women’s team,” Doiron added. “The other teams have also brought up the level of competition. We will be in the race and we could surprise. Carol-Ann has finished top 3 or 4 during the season. This will be the last AUS Championship for Bryan Thomas. He and Nassim Bousmaha will be our top runners. We will see where we end up at the end.”

For the women Aigles Bleues, the seven runners will be Carol-Ann McDonald, Kamylle Frenette, Josiane Guay, Myriam Cyr, Abigail Pelletier, December Sampson and Hannah Scott. The men will be Bryan Thomas, Nassim Bousmaha, Shayne Dobson, Samuel Gerber, François Poirier, Christian Haché and Alexandre Leclair.

Carol-Ann MacDonald will be competing in her third AUS cross country championship. “I am looking for s top 3 finish,” MacDonald stated. “I am capable, and I have worked hard this season to achieve. I will run with the Dalhousie runners and take off with two kilometres left.”

Bryan Thomas is running in his fifth and final AUS championship. “I would like to finish in the top 15,” Thomas said. “I did not attain my goal last season, so I was more disciplined this year. My experience of the four previous championships will help me with my strategies, and I will be able to manage my race better. I know the runners I have to compete against.”

The 6 km women’s race is at noon, and the 8 km men’s race, at 12:45 p.m.
