Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus are looking forward to getting out of last place in the standings and winning their first game in Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey this season.

Judes Vallée’s team (0-4-2= 2 points, 7th position) will host Dalhousie University Tigers (1-4-1= 3 points, 6th position) this Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena. A week ago, in Halifax, the Tigers were 4-3 winners in a shootout with the Aigles Bleus.

“This is a very important game for us,” stated Moncton coach Judes Vallée. “We are very aware the Tigers are close to us. I do have several injured players and I will have to modify some lines. Other players will need to step up. It is essential to play tighter, defensively and offensively, and to get to the net more often. We still need to practise our specialty units, especially the power play. The intensity needs to be better. Our confidence is slowly building.”

“We had a very good effort on Saturday and we need to continue that into Wednesday,” mentioned rookie Vincent Deslauriers. “We can play with the best if we play together. We have a good group of players and a very good organization. It is not easy when we are winless, but I remain positive and I believe in my team. We are capable of winning and we are going to show it in the next games. We played our system much better on Saturday without giving too much space to our opponents. I predict an exciting game on Wednesday with lots of intensity and a first win.”

In brief, Moncton has scored 15 goals and allowed 31 in six games compared to 13 and 23 for the Tigers. Robbie Graham and Danick Emond, injured on Saturday, are doubtful starters. Thierry Comtois and Joey Richard will also not play. Brandon Thibeau will be the goaltender. Mitchell Robillard (one goal and five assists) and Vincent Deslauriers (four goals and two assists) are the top point getters for the Bleu et Or with six points each, after six games.
