Université de Moncton’s soccer teams will be on the road this weekend as they head to Nova Scotia for Atlantic University Sport conference games. The women and men’s team will be in Halifax Saturday to meet Dalhousie University Tigers. Sunday, they will be in Wolfville to face the Acadia University Axewomen and Axemen.

The men have not won a game yet, while the Axemen are 2-1-1, and the Tigers 3-0-1.

“These are two teams that play well at home,” stated the Aigle’s coach, Florian Ntima Nsiemi. “We will use the positive phases in our last three games and offer a better opposition. We can perform at a better level. We know what to expect. We have a better offensive squad and we should find some weaknesses in their defense.”

Player Jean-Michel Dako says the weekend games are very important for the team. “All the players look forward to these games,” said Dako. “We know we can perform much better and we need to show it this weekend. The results could determine our season. Offensively, we have very good players that can score. We need to take more shots. We had excellent practices this week.”

The women’s soccer team is 1-2-0, compared to 2-1-1 for Acadia, and 3-1-0 for Dalhousie.

“These games will be played with lots of intensity,” stated Moncton women’s coach, Mehyar Zekaroui. “Acadia has had its ups and downs while Dalhousie has one loss in four games. These teams should qualify for the AUS championship. We are looking for standing points and we need to grow as a team this weekend. We will put our confidence in the women who have played most minutes in the last games. We have a system of play in place, now we need to be faster and be faithful to our principles.”
