Increase in new student enrolments at the Université de Moncton

As of September 18, 2017, the Université de Moncton has seen an 11% increase in new full-time student enrolments compared to the same period last year.

The university has seen a substantial increase in the number of Canadian students. New enrolments increased by 11% from 1,019 in 2016 to 1,128 in 2017. This is the second consecutive year that new enrolments by Canadians has increased. In September 2016, there were a total of 15 more new Canadian students compared to the previous year. Francophone high schools in the province have largely contributed to this increase which has resulted in the Université de Moncton achieving its highest enrolment rate in history.

The Shippagan campus, the science faculty, and the arts and social sciences faculty were the primary beneficiaries of this increase in enrolments.

“The strategies adopted over the past few years have borne fruit,” said Raymond Théberge, President and Vice-Chancellor. “This fall’s incoming cohort of students is larger than last year’s, which is good news for the Université de Moncton. We will continue our recruitment and retention efforts.”

In addition to the increase in new student enrolments, here is an overview of statistics on full-time enrolments as of September 18, 2017:
• Total overall enrolments remain stable: 4,206 in the fall of 2016 and 4,208 in the fall of 2017.
• 70.4% of the university’s student population is from New Brunswick, while 20.2% of the student population is international.
