The City of Dieppe announced a major contribution of $500,000 to the Université de Moncton during a recognition and investiture ceremony for generous donors held on May 25 at the new Wingate Hotel in Dieppe. This large gesture of generosity will play for fundamental and vital role in the growth of the university.

« I welcome the City of Dieppe’s generosity for this very significant donation which will allow students to grow and to enjoy a more enriching experience,” said Raymond Théberge, President and Vice-Chancellor. “This considerable support gives a boost to our ongoing major Évolution fundraising campaign currently underway at the Université de Moncton.”

“The Université de Moncton is an important player in the economic, cultural and social development of our area,” said Dieppe Mayor Yvon Lapierre. “More than 300 Université de Moncton employees live in Dieppe, and there are thousands of our residents who are graduates. The university’s impact on our city is enormous, and we believe in its development. This is why the City of Dieppe supported the university during its last two campaigns by contributing $800,000. We are very pleased to take part in the Évolution campaign by contributing a total of $500,000 over the next 10 years. These funds will allow for scholarships to Dieppe students as well as for the creation of an Acadian archives centre.”

During the ceremony, the City of Dieppe was bestowed the rank of Ambassador of the Oder of the Chancellor in recognition of its outstanding generosity.
