The task at hand will not be easy, but Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (9-11=18pts) are aware anything can happen in a semi-final game and the Monette Boudreau-Carroll coached team, that finished fourth, could surprise first place Dalhousie University Tigers (19-1=38pts) in the Subway Atlantic University Sport women’s volleyball semi-final game on Friday at 4:30 p.m. in Halifax.

The Tigers did win all four regular season games between the two teams, 12 sets to 5. Dalhousie had a single loss all season. The last two outings between the teams were won 3-2 by the Tigers.

Per second year Émilie Landry, "we put our focus on the Tigers the last two weeks to really study their play and we built our practices on that. I am sure adjustments will be needed along with keeping our aggressive play and our focus. A single winner take all game adds a bit of pressure, but we have nothing to lose and we will give it our all."

This AUS championship will be the last for fifth year Rachelle Lemoine. "Working hard will be our motto to squeeze a win. We did have a nice progression this season with good communications and motivation. A good mixture of aggressive style and playing with our heart will go a long way. I am looking forward to the first game following a two-week rest with practices and play analysis of the Tigers. We were also able to look after our small bruises."

Coach Monette Boudreau-Carroll has lots of experience at the AUS championships and knows were to focus her attention. "You can expect quite a battle, no one team will crush the other," Boudreau-Carroll stated. "We will be ready for this one, execute well and adapt our play. Both teams know what to do. We analyzed our competitive games this season. We will take advantage of a few cracks in their play and score points."

Alyssa Turenne, because of an injury, will not play this weekend.

Saint Mary’s and Memorial will meet in the other semi-final with the two winners advancing to the championship game, on Saturday at 7 p.m. Dalhousie has won the last four titles. The two losing teams meet at 4:30 p.m. for bronze. The games are on AUStv.ca.
