240 athletes expected at Subway AUS track and field championships

The Subway Atlantic University Sport Track and Field Championships will see athletes from a record 10 universities compete on Friday and Saturday in the Stade Vance-Toner of the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud on the Moncton campus.

There is a record 240 athletes registered for the numerous events of the two days. Male and female athletes from Acadia, Dalhousie, Memorial, Moncton, Mount Allison, Saint Mary's, St. Francis Xavier, St. Thomas, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island will attend. Competitions will begin on Friday at noon with the last relay races on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

"The objectives for the Aigles teams are to win 10 medals and finish top 4 in both men and women," coach Steve LeBlanc said. "I also expect at least one athlete to qualify for the U SPORTS championships, in Edmonton."

The participating Aigles athletes are Émilie Guthrie, Amélie Doucet, Sébastien LeBlanc, Sara-Ève Noël, Lisa Richard, Pascale Richard, Samuel Robichaud, Constance Gilman, Jean-Luc Bastarache, Nassim Bousmaha, Ryan Caissie, Alain Doucet, Jessie Drouin, Carol-Ann MacDonald, Isabelle Morris, Miriook St-Arnauld Hivon, Raphaël Choquette, Monika LeBlanc, Julien Léger, Frédéric Losier, François Pelletier, Bryan Thomas, Aaron LeBlanc, Daniel Saucier, Rémi Poitras, Christian Richard and Youssef Abboud. The Aigles will also race in various relays.

The public is invited to attend the competitions. All activities will be broadcasted on www.AUStv.ca
