Hockey Aigles Bleus to host X-Men

Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (9-13-1=19pts, 6th position) have one thing on their mind and that is to win against the St. Francis Xavier University X-Men (12-8-2=26pts, 3rd place) as they host them on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena, in Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey.

Moncton has a two-point lead over the Dalhousie University Tigers and will do its best to get closer to University of Prince Edward Island Panthers and the Saint Mary’s University Huskies. Moncton won 6-5 in overtime last Saturday in Antigonish and 4-2, at home, on Dec. 2nd.

"The importance of this game is well known by all," Moncton coach Serge Bourgeois said. "We are playing fairly good hockey, even if we lost last Wednesday. We can win if we can stay out of the penalty box and play better on the penalty kill."

The Bleu et Or won the last two outings between the teams. "We need to pay attention to the details on the ice and play our game," coach Bourgeois added. "We have a very good chance of winning. I spoke to the players this week about the importance of playing discipline hockey. Playing in front of our fans is exciting, they motivate us and we appreciate them."

In brief

Brandon Thibeau will be the goaltender on Saturday… All players are off the injury list… Moncton and StFX each lost their last outing… The X-Men scored 73 goals and allowed 72 in 22 games this season compared to 70 and 109 for Moncton in 23 games… The Bleu et Or is the only team to have allowed more than 100 goals in the league this season.
