Aigles Bleus play Axemen on Saturday

Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (7-11-1=15points, tied 5th position) return to Nova Scotia Saturday, in Wolfville, for a duel against the Acadia University Axemen (11-6-1=23pts, 2nd position) in an Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey game.

The Aigles Bleus will play their second game of the week following a 3-0 loss to the SMU Huskies, on Wednesday. The Axemen have won all three previous outings between the two team’s this season, 7-4, 6-5 overtime and 5-3.

"We aim to play better after each game and build on the positive actions of our Wednesday game," coach Serge Bourgeois said. "Playing on an Olympic size surface will mean some adjustments for us. We will focus on our speed and also on closing the centre of the ice. Our checking game will have to be well executed."

"The end of the season is fast approaching and all games are important," stated forward Robbie Graham. "Acadia has one of the best teams and it is always more difficult to win on the road and especially in Wolfville. We have a long ride and we will have to get our legs going fast. The mental shape of the team is very good for this second semester."

Rookie forward Carl Marois played his first game last Wednesday and is feeling good. "I was looking forward to playing this first university game," Marois said. "I am an offensive player and I focus on my speed and shot. I was a bit nervous, but after a few shits, I began to get my rhythm." Marois will have to wear a face guard for the rest of the season to protect his face bones that will take about a year to heal properly.

Brandon Thibeau will be the goaltender. Samuel LeBlanc and Sébastien Gauthier, with lower body injuries, could miss the game.
