Hockey Aigles Bleus looking to climb to 6th spot

Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus were able to get buy the Dalhousie University Tigers, 4-2 last Friday evening and these same two teams clash again Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena in Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey action.

The Aigles Bleus presently sits in seventh and final spot in the standings with 5 wins, 10 losses and one overtime loss. The Tigers are 5th with a 6-8-3, for 15 points record. Moncton is one point back of sixth place UPEI Panthers and the Serge Bourgeois troop is looking to get to sixth place with two games left before the Christmas break. Moncton will also host the X-Men on Friday in its last semester game.

" Our aim is to play similar to last Friday. We played well defensively and we rushed the puck out of our zone efficiently," Moncton coach Serge Bourgeois said. We also sent our players and the puck in front of the opposing net and it gave us rewards against one of the best goaltenders in the league. All players are available for the game and Robbie Graham will be back in the lineup. Our Friday game plan went well and it should be the same Wednesday. They did manage two power play goals and we will have to be better on the penalty kill and limit their scoring chances. Rebounds will be important for us to find a way to score goals."

Brandon Thibeau will be the goaltender for the game.

In brief... Allain Saulnier still leads the AUS scoring race with 2 goals and 26 assists, for 28 points… JF Plante is tied at second with 17-8, for 25 points... Alex Saulnier is fourth with 8-16, for 24 points…. Pierre Durepos, with 7 points (2-5) is 13th in the defensemen standings...
