Aigles and Tigers tangle in a first game
The Tigers have been staying close to the bottom of the standings in the last number of years with the now defunct St. Thomas University Tommies. It is a very different story this season with a rejuvenated team.
''The Tigers are playing excellent hockey this season; it will be important for us to play well and match their intensity,'' Moncton coach Serge Bourgeois said. ''We will face a much different team compared to the other seasons. They have excellent goalkeepers with good scorers. They have beaten or tied the top teams in the league.''
Second year defencemen Samuel Roussy is seeing good progress in his play but he says the defensive squad needs to follow a game plan. ''All players on the ice have a role to play in our defensive zone,'' stated Roussy. ''We have to close the front of our goal and not let the opposition get in there. We have offered too many goals this season and we must work harder to block shots and play better as a unit to get the puck out of our zone. I have seen improvement in my play this season and I want to do all I can to help the team get as far as possible and in the playoffs.''
The task of keeping the puck out of the net will go to veteran Brandon Thibeau. The Tigers have lost their last two games and Moncton, its last one.
