Students at CFMNB are
sympathetic to the
LGBTQ+ cause
Students from the Centre de formation
médicale Nouveau-Brunswick saw the
reality faced by LGBTQ+ communities
and wanted to make a difference in their
own community. They launched the

campaign to raise awareness about
sexual and gender diversity in collab-
oration with Mouvement acadien des
communautés en santé du Nouveau-
Brunswick, the Un sur dix [One in Ten]
group of the Université de Moncton
LGBTQ+ Students’ Association, the
Fédération des jeunes francophones
du Nouveau-Brunswick and the Société
Santé et Mieux-être en français du
Nouveau-Brunswick.
Memorandum of Understanding
on engineering studies
The Université de Moncton, the
University of New Brunswick, the
New Brunswick Community College
and the Collège communautaire du
Nouveau-Brunswick announced the
signing of a Memorandum of Under-
standing on engineering studies. This
agreement is designed to improve the
transfer of credits between the four
institutions.
Over $400,000 in scholarships
Over $400,000 in scholarships was
awarded to more than 175 students
at the Edmundston campus in the
2016–2017 academic year.
AIDE handbook
to guide students
to appropriate resources  
Student Services at the Moncton
campus has prepared the
Guide
d’accompagnement AIDE
handbook
to direct students to appropriate
resources. The guide is intended as
a tool for professors, lecturers and
all non-teaching staff at the Moncton
campus who have to meet with
students as part of their work. The
guide includes a simple approach and
lists the various resources available
on the campus, depending on the
problems the student is dealing with.

The Université de Moncton awarded 1016 new diplomas and certificates at its three campuses during the
2016–2017 academic year.
At the May 2017 graduation ceremonies, the Université de Moncton awarded three
honoris causa
doctorates to
Georges Arsenault
in history,
Donald Bélanger
in business administration and
Stanley Vollant
in medecine.
Charles Bourque
became a professor
emeritus of chemistry, and
Gemma Gallant
a professor emeritus of nursing.
The Award of Excellence in Mentoring
was presented to
Gaétan Moreau
, a professor in the Department of Biology.
Olivier Clarisse
, assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, received the
Award of Excellence
in Teaching
.
The Governor General’s gold medal
was awarded to
Nicolas Nicaise
, who graduated with a doctorate in literary
studies, and the
silver medal
was awarded to
Raphaël Choquette
, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology.
