Strategic Plan Adopted by the Université de Moncton

At its November 30th meeting, held at the Moncton campus, the Université de Moncton Board of Governors adopted a strategic plan to chart the course of the institution’s future.

Titled Un rêve qui nous appartient (Our very own dream), the document presents the conclusions and recommendations of a strategic planning exercise conducted over the last six months. The plan will be implemented immediately.

“The plan stems from a vast consultation process which mobilized the entire university community and its partners who have the vitality of the institution at heart, indicated president and vice-chancellor Raymond Théberge to the Board. The consultation engaged all the vital forces of l’Acadie in a reflection on the renewal of the Université de Moncton.”

Board of Governors chair Raymond Lanteigne thanked the president and vice-chancellor for having initiated the exercise. “As the Université de Moncton was marking its 50th anniversary, it was quite appropriate for us to step back and examine where the institution is at and more importantly, where we want it to go.”

The strategic planning exercise provided an excellent opportunity to reflect on past accomplishments and lay the foundations for a future that will meet the expectations of all those committed to the university’s further development. The Board of Governors also accepted proposals for updating two pension plans - that of support, technical, administrative and professional staff as well as that of professors and librarians. The proposals were submitted by two review committees after two years of deliberation which included multiple actuarial analysis and meetings with pension plan contributors and their representatives at the three campuses.

Finally, the Board appointed Jean-François Richard, currently dean of the Faculty of Education, as associate vice-president, Academic, for a mandate of five years effective January 1st, 2014. He replaces Edgar Robichaud, appointed vice-president, Administration and Human Resources in July 2013.
